I'm pondering the meaning of Romans 4:15. Different editions have different translations but the Good News Bible says "The Law brings down God's anger; but where there is no law, there is no disobeying of the law" - this refers to the time before the law when it was unknown but I think it would logically extend to those who are incapable of knowing the law. I'd be interested in your opinion, I like to see what meaning other people see in the texts. It might bring comfort to those in this situation.

GeorgeThe 12th Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14864932488524291861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763549722500308877.post-43441652207909823292008-05-24T08:38:00.000-05:002008-05-24T08:38:00.000-05:00Morning, John,I was wondering if you would help me...Morning, John,
I was wondering if you would help me with a question that I've uncovered while gathering material for Donna about the Scriptural basis of infants/young children/mentally disabled people going to Heaven even though they don't have the ability to make a faith statement about Jesus.
In my research, I've come across several views, but one that I hadn't considered before (and which has me rather in a dither now, as a mother of preschoolers) is that there is no Scripture stating that children/infants/babies in utero/embryos will be raptured, based on the fact that the rapture is for the church and also that there is evidence of children in the tribulation (ie. woe to the mothers with child and nursing during that time, etc.) and that God has not spared children in His other judgements as recorded in Scripture.

As I was reading the Word a few days ago, I flipped to Psalms and read Ps. 22 9-10 (Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother’s breast. From my birth I was cast upon you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God.)
I felt strongly that God had pointed me there because I had asked Him for further proof that He does indeed have a plan for those who haven't had the chance or don't have the mental capacity to make a faith statement about Jesus. However, I don't want my emotions on the subject or my 'hopes' to cloud the truth of Scripture and so I'm continuning my search. I'm sure if there was a clear-cut verse about the subject, someone would have found it by now. Lots of people use the example of David mourning his infant son "I will go to him" and all the examples of Christ calling the children to Himself as well as the verse about John the Baptist receiving the Holy Spirit in the womb. But those have a little hedge room for the possibility of another interpretation.

If I had to state my belief today, it would be that God does bring all children before the age of understanding His word, all those with mental incapacities and those same during the rapture home to be with Him.
The Rapture question is especially concerning because I believe it could happen at any second and to think that my kids would be left here is incredibly upsetting.

Any thoughts?
Blessings,
Jen
PS. Feel free to respond at my blog if you want since this is off your topic.Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03638471202362429844noreply@blogger.com
